Who would've guessed it.

And this is why I support people getting into relationships with people of different religious faiths. Wouldn't want to segregate ourselves out of a pool of readily available and willing partners, now would we? Now, armed with this burst of insight, I am off to church. Perhaps I should go to Jesus camp this summer as well...

The comment from 'Intelligent Christian' on that 'Kill the Afterlife' post was funny!

What are we to make of those folk who insist that 'this is a Christian country'.?

Do they mean a 'not necessarilly "true" Christian country?

On the on hand we have the standard that one is either in the club or one isn't and on the other hand...

It's like that old joke in reverse. The one about whether you're a cock-sucker or not, you know, you suck just the one cock and forever after you ARE!

When they say that this is a "Christian country" they are trying to get you to accept a vague label that could be generally accepted, depending on context, in order to heap on appeals for greater levels of control afterwards. Of course there were Christians who founded this country, of course some (emphasis on some) of our laws are influenced by that Christianity, and most Americans are Christian today. In that sense, we are a "Christian nation". And there goal with getting us to admit that is to say "hahaha, you just said that we are free to be a theocracy!" They don't care about the fact that they, personally, do not consider half of the people in this country Christian, and probably would harangue the pilgrims for lack of faith.

On an unrelated, I can say that I was rather privileged to have never heard the joke that you mentioned. Vulgar. Yet disturbingly truthful.
