Obama: Pissing off fundies with the truth.

When you question the faith of someone who points out the plainly obvious fact that our society and behavior just isn't consistent with what the Bible demands of us, you might just be a fundie.
As for the rest of us, we can rest assured that Obama is sane almost entirely due to people like those who made this video bitching about him. In that since, the folks at World Nut Daily provide us with a valuable resource: a surefire test of which person is the least likely to drop nuclear bombs in the hopes of summoning Jesus.

Edit: Google video embedding is teh suck. Youtube version to the rescue.

Yea, on the 'you might be a fundie' thingy.

Fundies believe that no-one but true believers can possibly read the scriptures and 'divide them correctly'.

If I read the shortest verse, "Jesus wept.", for example and surmise that Jesus was upset, then I, as a not-real Christian, am 'out of context'.

The simple truth is that the one's who know what 'context' is,also know that most of them don't know what 'context' is.

If I hadn't already voted for Obama - that youtube video would have persuaded me TO vote for Obama:-)

You'e got to be afraid of the people who call a monopoly on interpretation by telling you what is and is not "in context" (especially when their context is out of context...making me laugh dizzily). Those people are unstable, and very hard to get through to. Having skulls of stone as they do.

Also: this video has inspired me to vote as myself, and also as Mickey Mouse, in order to make ACORN's "voter fraud" actually alter election results like good ol' McCain decided to suggest it would. Just trying to do my part to make sure that the sane candidate is declared victor.

This one, "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. (Matthew 24: 34)", which is restated in Luke and Mark, and probably NEVER mentioned to anyone under a certain age, if mentioned ever.

Apologists split this up into things that did happen about that time, and score themselves points for finding them too!

Why didn't the 'end-times' come as Jesus predicted?

Well, behind door number one we have... maybe it did!

Behind door number two, 'generation' in this instance is 'rethought' to mean a generation that starts at different times for different parts of his predictions.

Door number three, God was so chuffed that he cancelled the awful end part!

It's a boat-load of prophecy and a boat-load of mystery at the same time!

I love that one, because it is the one that very few Christians ever will admit. Especially if they are banking on the Rapture occuring within the next 24 hours, every 24 hours.

"Behind door number two, 'generation' in this instance is 'rethought' to mean a generation that starts at different times for different parts of his predictions"

Gotta love that. The sane ones try to do the same thing for Genesis (though, at least for them, the original Greek actually supports an alternate definition of "day"). Now, it is all well and good to offer up an alternate definition or interpretation of a given word. It is another thing to only be willing to do this only when it means that you can argue for the Bible's accuracy, and disregard any potential deviations of meaning after that.

"Door number three, God was so chuffed that he cancelled the awful end part!"

Jesus wanted to come back with a choir of angels and a bag full of joy, but people are too mean, so no apocalypse for you. Blame the gays.

"It's a boat-load of prophecy and a boat-load of mystery at the same time!"

And here I am without a Nostradamus or Sherlock Holmes costume. Which, on a totally unrelated note, just gave me two great ideas for Halloween.
