Internet: Now with a 100% less internet.

Turkey has commenced its ban on everything.
First, they came for youtube, and I said nothing.
Then, they came for slide.com, and I said nothing.
Then they came for Richard Dawkins, and I wasn't surprised.
But now, they've come for wordpress and blogger. And now I think it is pretty clear that they do not know how the internet works....

It is Turkey, one of the few countries that outdoes the United States in scientific illiteracy.

Sadly Turkey is a beautiful country with some amazing culture. Perhaps my absolute most favourite singer in the world is Tarkan. His newest CD is amazing. Not to mention, although he claims to be a Muslim because he has to, I'm nearly 90% sure he's an atheist or an agnostic.

Damn, I sure am sick. I had to read the blog twice before I understood that you were talking of the country and not the food.

Speaking of turkey, I noticed you do like a lot of bands that are international (many of which I listen to as well).

You might not like him, but there is another international superstar that you may have never heard of (save for the previous post).

Pretty good, MM. I'll have to look more into Tarkan's music. But, if you get me addicted to Turk-Pop in addition to my J-Pop and German [anything] addictions, I'm afraid that I will have to kill you. But it will be friendly murder (are there any laws for that?).

And, I am going to have to refer to Jared's assessment on the issue of Turkey's culture. They are like us: noble and delicious on the surface, but with a disgusting batshit filling. Our two countries are like Twinkies. Exactly like Twinkies.

Only Twinkies rot the teeth, the filling in our countries rots the brain...

Twinkies could rot the brain too. We just can't tell because the people who eat them probably have already had their brains rotted anyway. And scientific illiteracy can rot the teeth indirectly. And I can prove that there is a correlation by using hillbillies as evidence alone.

I find it greatly disappointing that there are countries out there like Turkey that ban things like this...

I guess this makes me more thankful to live in a country with Free Speech... Let us just hope that it stays that way.

...our country having free speech, not turkey banning things... I should make myself more clear sometimes.

Asylum Seeker said...

It was clear enough. As long as we always remember that we have free speech, and use continue to use that free speech to oppose attempted infringements of it, then we will be pretty well off in that regard. But...there's always a way for them to throw you off balance and sneak in the muzzles while you are stunned silent. So...yeah. Luck and wariness is as involved in this as passionate desire for first amendment rights.

That's true - the problem has always been that tyranny doesn't attack the center; it slowly nibbles away at the edges until there's nothing left. It's one of the reasons that I am a card carrying member of that dreaded organization, the ACLU. They fight for even the unpopular and the loathsome which keeps the center safe.

Haha, when it comes to German, I am absolutely ADDICTED to the german band Oomph!

For some reason I was reminded of Kelly Pickler not knowing that Turkey was a country. Looks like maybe that wasn't such a bad thing :-P

Yes,
let's let Turkey be our example.

Free speech? Anybody ever hear of the patriot act?
If we are not vigilante we may become next.

Thus your use of the nazi poem?
When they came for me.....

But...how does one get the internet with a turkey?

The "use of the nazi poem" was actually just done because of its serial nature and because it is easy to remember off hand. The implications are entirely accidental, as delicious as they are.

And, incredibly well put Pliny.
