Reminds me of some of my old teachers...

Today, in the news:  "Arguing that students should return to the fundamentals taught in the Pnakotic Manuscripts and the Necronomicon in order to develop the skills they need to be driven to the very edge of sanity, Arkham school board member Charles West continued to advance his pro-madness agenda at the district's monthly meeting Tuesday...."

Evangelical Lovecraftianism.  I should really give that a try...

I didn't notice that it was an Onion article 'til I'd read it through.

I was hoping that it was real, right up to the 'hole behind the locker' deal, I was 'sold'.

What had me going is that is is no nuttier than anything else really.

I was thinking, "GOOD, give them fuckin' fundies something "REAL"(by which I mean 'as surreal as themselves') to squalk about!

If all liberal/socialist/atheists joined a totally EVIL religion and started rooting for the end of the World, the Christians would be 'just too' puzzled!

I assume that it could be real. If only ID was an issue around my parts, I could try to regale the school board with long-winded tales of horror and woe, and of the dire need to educate our children of the TRUTH that is our terrible insignificant place in a cold, indifferent universe where outright hostility from the Things in our midst would be a welcome relief in comparison. I wonder how many people will be inspired by this article? I hope there will be many...

Only 3% of highschoolers can recognize Cthulhu - that's still 1% more than can find Mongolia on a map...

Yog Sothoth (L) for senate!

Hey, if you combine them, the last administration was *almost* as destructive. Maybe not quite as evil though.

Yog Sothoth (L)? Libertarian? Well...that would be destructive...

Uggh. Sorry. Must have spent too much time reading Pharyngula threads.

I think Cheney might have been a Shoggoth Lord. I think I've made that point before, but still can't find the picture to prove it...

I posted a picture on my site that clears this all up (don't know how to insert a photo into a post)

Could you only imagine if this were true? I agree with pboyfloyd, that would indeed give the Christians something real to get worked up about...

Pliny, I saw that Chenuthu picture on you blog (i just had to look LOL) one could even call it Captain Cheney Jones... perhaps after Will Turner was done on the Flying Dutchman, Dick Cheney took the job... he is pretty corrupt, so its no shock that he'd be cursed with the tentacles.

Horror upon horrors. That picture will haunt my dreams.

And, yes, I assume that Christians would be rightly perturbed if this actually happened, since it is the equivalent of asking for a school to teach Satanism (except without the appeasement they would feel by having their own mythology fed into by the admission that the demonic entity being worshiped can be easily described within their own worldview). Due to that fact, it would be incredibly awesome to pull off. Not too incredibly different from the Flying Spaghetti Monster, but it benefits from being a more opaque mockery.

I wish not approve on it. I regard as polite post. Expressly the designation attracted me to review the unscathed story.
